A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA QUINTA,
CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING AND AUTHORIZING THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE TO APPROVE A FOUR-
WAY STOP AT THE INTERSECTION OF 52ND AVENUE AND
JEFFERSON STREET.
WHEREAS, Section 12.16.070 of the La Quinta Municipal Code
authorizes the City Council, by resolution, to request and authorize
the installation and maintenance of a four-way stop at the
intersection of 52nd Avenue and Jefferson Street, where traffic
conditions are such as to require the traffic flow to be alternately
interrupted and released in order to protect life or property from
exceptional hazard; and
WHEREAS, the County of Riverside did an accident warrant
analysis at the intersection of 52nd Avenue and Jefferson Streets and
it has been determined that 52nd Avenue and Jefferson Street
intersection meets said warrants to document the need for a four-way
stop sign at this location; and
WHEREAS, Riverside County Traffic Committee recordings of twelve
accidents to date at 52nd Avenue and Jefferson Street reflect the
cause in each accident to be failure to yield to the right-of-way.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of La Quinta, California, hereby requests and authorizes the
installation and maintenance of a four-way stop sign by the County of
Riverside at the intersection of 52nd Avenue and Jefferson Street,
and in conjunction therewith, installation of necessary signs and
roadway markings.
