RESOLUTION NO. 88-8
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA, ENDORSING
A TASK FORCE COMMITTEE TO ADDRESS AREA
TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS.
WHEREAS, the Cities of Coachella, Indio, La Quinta and
County of Riverside share common concerns with relation to area
transportation requirements, i.e., street design, improvements,
a) landscaping and ongoing maintenance; and

Cr) WHEREAS, these are issues that affect the general
* public, and
m WHEREAS, work has been done over the past year of
identifying common concerns and an approach to solutions and
continued communication and cooperation is desirable for
continued progress toward joint studies and solutions.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA
QUINTA HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
I
That the City of La Quinta is committed to forming the
EAST COACHELLA VALLEY TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE.
II
That the City Manager is directed to represent and/or
have representatives from City Staff to meet with the
participating jurisdictions on at least a quarterly basis to
work jointly to:
* identify priorities
* promote continuing communication on joint issues
* promote cooperative relationships on joint issues
* promote joint identification of solutions
* promote joint funding of projects when appropriate

The City Council of La Quinta hereby commits staff
time and staff work to meet on a regular schedule and to provide
staff support for preparation of required materials and reports

to accomplish the tasks of the committee and to joint funding of
projects to be approved by each Agency in the future.
IV
The City Council hereby directs the City Clerk to mail
a copy of this Resolution to Supervisor Larson, the City Council
of Indio and City Council of Coachella.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of February,
1988 by the following vote:
AYES: Council Members Bohnenberger, Cox, Pena, Sniff
NOES: Mayor Hoyle
