A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF 251
THE CITY OF LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA,
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO SEEK AMENDMENT
OF THE CITY OF LA QUINTA'S SPHERE OF
INFLUENCE AND ANNEX 45.64 ACRES OF
PROPERTY NORTH OF THE CURRENT CORPORATE
LIMITS, AND DIRECTING THAT AN APPLICATION
FOR THIS PURPOSE BE EXECUTED AND FILED
WITH THE RIVERSIDE COUNTY LOCAL AGENCY
FORMATION COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of La Quinta seeks
an amendment to its existing Sphere of Influence to include an
0) area of real property located within the County of Riverside,
ID State of California, and to annex said property which is
Er) described in Exhibit 1A'1, attached hereto and by this reference
incorporated herein; and,
m WHEREAS, the City of La Quinta was directed by the
Riverside County Local Agency Formation Commission to secure
cooperative agreements for the ultimate logical and compatible
boundaries between La Quinta and the Cities of Coachella and
Indio; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed amended Sphere of Influence and
annexation are not within any current jurisdictions Sphere of
Influence boundary and are consistant with the aforementioned
agreement between the City of La Quinta and Indio; and
WHEREAS, the La Quinta City Council has determined that
the amended Sphere of Influence and annexation propsal is a
logical and contiguous expansion of the City's planning area
and will contribute to the orderly growth of the City of La
Quinta; and
WHEREAS, an environmental assessment has been completed
regarding the proposed Sphere of Influence amendment and
annexation, and it has been found that this action will not
have a significant adverse effect on the environment, and
therefore, a Negative Declaration shall be completed pursuant
to Section 15074 of e.t., seq., of the Government Code of the
State of California; and,
WHEREAS, for the ab3ve stated reasons and subject to the
approval of the Riverside County Local Agency Formation
Commission, the City of La Quinta proposes a Sphere of
Influence amendment and annexation to include the territory
depicted on attached Exhibit A", defined as uninhabited
territory, pursuant to the provisions of Government Code
Section 5600 et. seq.; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, DETERMINED AND ORDERED AS
FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. That the La Quinta City Council hereby
authorizes the City Manager of the City of La Quinta to
commence proceedings with the Riverside County Local Agency
Formation Commission for the approval to amend the La Quinta
Sphere of Influence and annexation lands as herein described as
depicted in Exhibit A*'.
SECTION 2. The City Manager, being the same as hereby
authorized, is directed to file a certificated copy of this
Resolution with the executive officer of the Riverside County
Local Agency Formation Commission.
SECTION 3. That the La Quinta City Council has
determined that this action will not have a significant adverse
impact on the environment and adopts a Negative Declaration for
the project proposal and hereby authorizes the City Manager of
the City of La Quinta to process a Notice of Environmental
Determination regarding this decision.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
La Quinta City Council held on this * day of September,
1988, by the following vote:
