A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY OF LA QUINTA
ON THE 8TH DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1988, DECLARING THE RESULT
THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, a regular general municipal election was held and
conducted in the City of La Quinta, County of Riverside, State
of California, on Tuesday, the 8th day of November, 1988, as
required by law; and
WHEREAS, notice of said election was given in time, form
and manner as provided by law; that said election was conducted
as a consolidated election with the Statewide General Election;
and
WHEREAS, the Riverside County Registrar of Voters canvassed
the returns of said election and has certified the result to
this City Council, said results are received, attached and made
a part hereof as "Exhibit A"; and
WHEREAS, that said regular general municipal election was
held for the purpose of electing the following officers of said
City as required by the laws relating to cities in the State
of california, to wit:
One (1) Mayor of the City Council of said City for the full
term of two years;
Two (2) Members of the City Council of said City for the
full term of four years;
One (1) Member of the City Council of said City for the
term of two years.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA QUINTA,
CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the names of persons voted for at said
election for Mayor of the City Council of said City are as
follows:
WILLIAM "BILL" HOYLE
DAVID LUTES
JOHN J. PENA
SECTION 2. That the names of persons voted for at said
election for Members of the City Council of said City are as _.,
follows:
DALE V. BOHNENBERGER
JOYCE BOSWORTH
CHRISTOPHER J. DESALVA
JOHN M. KAPPEL
BRIAN WILLIAM HANRAHAN
JIM PARNELL
BRUCE D. ROBINSON

ANN YOUNG
SECTION 3. That the measure voted on at said election in
said City is as follows:
Shall Ordinance No. 125 be adopted amending La Quinta
Municipal code Section 3.24.030 increasing the transient
occupancy tax from eight percent (8%) to nine percent (9%)?
SECTION 4. The City Council does declare and determine
that: JOHN J. PENA was elected as Mayor for the full term of 2
years; DALE V. BOHNENBERGER and WILLIAM E. RUSHWORTH were
elected as Members of the City Council for the full term of 4
years; and JOYCE BOSWORTH was elected as a Member of the City
Council for the term of 2 years.
That as a result of the election, a majority of the voters
voting on the measure relating to Transient Occupancy Tax did
vote in favor of it, and that the measure was carried, and shall
be deemed adopted and ratified.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall immediately make and
deliver to each of the persons so elected, a Certificate of
Election signed by the City Clerk and authenticated; that the
City Clerk shall also administer to each person elected, the
Oath of Office prescribed in the Constitution of the State of
California and shall have them subscribe to it and file it in
the Office of the City Clerk. Each and all of the persons so
elected shall then be inducted into the respective office to
which they have been elected.
SECTION 6. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage
and adoption of this resolution and enter it into the book of
original resolutions.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED on November 29, 1988 by the
following vote:
AYES: Council Members Bohnenberger, Cox, Pena, Sniff,
Mayor Hoyle
