A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF LA QUINTA,
CALIFORNIA, ENDORSING THE
RIVERSIDE COUNTY HAZARDOUS WASTE
MANAGEMENT PLAN.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Assembly Bill 2948 Tanner)
the County of Riverside has prepared a County Hazardous Waste
Management Plan CHWMP); and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to Health and Safety Code Section
25135.6(f) the CHWMP must be approved by a majority of the
Cities within Riverside County prior to submission to and final
approval of the Plan by the State Department of Health
Services; and,
WHEREAS, the City of La Quinta will have 180 days
from the final approval of the Plan by the Department of Health
Services to exercise it's options under Senate Bill 477
Greene); and,
WHEREAS, the City's approval for Riverside County's
adoption of the CHWMP does not limit the authority of the City
of La Quinta to establish more stringent planning requirements
or siting criteria than those specified in the County Hazardous
Waste Management Plan; and
WHEREAS, on March 31, 1988, the City of La Quinta
received the CHWMP from the County for the City1s review and
approval; and
WHEREAS, La Quinta has participated through a
representative to the County's City Liaison Subcommittee in the
preparation and review of the final draft CHWMP; and,
WHEREAS, the La Quinta City Council has reviewed
and considered the CHWMP.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council
of the City of La Quinta, as follows:
1. That it does hereby support the efforts of Riverside
County to manage hazardous waste within it's
jurisdiction, as specified in the CHWMP.
2. That it does hereby grant it's formal endorsement and
support for said Plan and hereby orders that a certified
copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the Clerk of
the Board of Supervisors of Riverside County, as
indicating approval of said CHWMP, for the purpose of the
County's adoption of the Plan.
