CC Resolution 1989-002^ 7 RESOLUTION NO. 89-2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE DEED TO THE DESERT CLUB PROPERTY FROM THE FRITZ BURNS FOUNDATION. WHEREAS, the La Quinta Desert Club which is owned by the Fritz Burns Foundation has been an historical and significant part of the community since the 1930's; and WHEREAS, the Fritz Burns Foundation, which are substantial land holders in La Quinta believe that they should make contributions to the communities in which they do business in; and WHEREAS, the Fritz Burns Foundation, of which William Hannon is the Chairman of the Board has determined that it is in the best interest of the Desert Club property to become a permanent part of the City of La Quinta; and WHEREAS, the Fritz Burns Foundation, on December 29, 1988, presented the deed to the Desert Club property to the City of La Quinta with the stipulation that a majority of the property be retained for park purposes and that the Fritz Burns Foundation be memorialized for said contribution. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of La Quinta, California, that the deed to the La Quinta Desert Club Property be accepted from the Fritz Burns Foundation and FURTHER, that the City Council agrees to retain a majority of the property as a park to be named the Fritz B. Burns Park".
