A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA,
ADOPTING A SOURCE REDUCTION AND
RECYCLING ELEMENT, AND A HOUSEHOLD
HAZARDOUS WASTE ELEMENT.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the September, 1989 California
Integrated Waste Management Act AB 939) and its companion
bill, AB 2707, each California county and incorporated City
must prepare a *ource Reduction and Recycling Element SRRE)
that demonstrates how they will meet the State's solid waste
diversion goals of 25 percent by the year 1995 and 50 percent
by the year 2000, and a Household Hazardous Waste Element
HWWE) that identifies a program for the safe collection,
recycling, treatment, and disposal of household hazardous
wastes; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has conducted a duly noticed
Public Hearing on June 18, 1991, at which written and oral
testimony, if any, relating to the SRRE and HHWE was received
from all interested parties; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed and considered the
SRRE and the HHWE, which sets forth solid waste diversion goals
and funding plans for the City of La Quinta in compliance with
AB 939 and AB 2707; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of La Quinta, California as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct and
constitute the findings of the City Council in this
case;
2. The City Council hereby finds the SRRE and HHWE in
compliance with AB 939 and AB 2707 governing the
contents of both elements;
3. The City Council hereby approves and adopts the
SRRE and HHWE in the form on file with the City
Clerk.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting
of the La Quinta City Council held on this 18th day of
February, 1992, by the following vote, to wit:
