RESOLUTION *
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA AUTHORIZING
CERTAIN CITY STAFF MEMBERS TO REPRESENT
THE CITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF OBTAINING
FEDERAL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE.

WHEREAS, the City suffered considerable property damage and expense related to
providing emergency service during and as a result of the rain storms and flooding that occurred
in January and February, 1993; and,
WHEREAS, on February 3, 1993, President Clinton declared Riverside County and
several other California counties eligible for federal financial assistance under Public Law 93-
288 as amended by the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act of
1988; and,
WHEREAS, the Office of Emergency Services of the State of California requires a
resolution of the City Council of the City of La Quinta that designates specific individuals to act
for and in behalf of the City in administering the City's request for federal and state disaster
assistance through the Office of Emergency Services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of La Quinta,
California that;
Thomas P. Genovese, Acting City Manager; or,
Steven D. Speer, Assistant City Engineer; or,
Roger Hirdler, Assistant Building and Safety Director;
is hereby authorized to execute for and in behalf of the City of La Quinta, a public entity
established under the laws of the State of California, this application and to file it in the Office
of Emergency Services for the purpose of obtaining certain federal financial assistance under
P.L. 93-288 as amended by the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance
Act of 1988, and/or state financial assistance under the Natural Disaster Act for flood, which
occurred in 3anuary and February of 1993; and,
THAT the City of La Quinta, a public entity established under the laws of the State of
California, hereby authorizes its agent to provide to the State Office of Emergency Services for
all matters pertaining to such state disaster assistance the assurances and agreements required.
