A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA REQUESTING THAT LAFCO
TAKE PROCEEDINGS TO ANNEX THE CITY OF LA
QUINTA INTO RIVERSIDE COUNTY SERVICE AREA 152
COMMENCING WITH FISCAL YEAR 1994-95.
WHEREAS, the City of La Quinta desires to initiate proceedings pursuant to the
Cortese-Knox Local Government Reorganization Act of 1985, being Division 3 of Title
5 of the Government Code of the State of California Commencing with 56000) for the
annexation of the City of La Quinta into Riverside County Service Area 152; and
WHEREAS, the territory proposed to be annexed is inhabited and includes the
entirety of the incorporated boundaries of the City of La Quinta; and
WHEREAS, this proposal is consistent with the sphere of influence of the City of
La Quinta; and
WHEREAS, the reason for the proposed annexation is to add the City of La Quinta
to County Service Area 152 for the purpose of implementing and funding the City's
federally-mandated National Pollution Discharge Elimination System programs;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of La
Quinta, California that it hereby requests the Local Agency Formation Commission to
take proceedings for and consent to the annexation of the City of La Quinta in its entirety
to Riverside County Service Area 152, commencing with fiscal year 1994-1995, in the
manner provided by the Cortese-knox Local Government Reorganization Act of 1985,
and allowing for the City of La Quinta to make such application individually or jointly
with one or more cities.
