A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE
APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM THE USED OIL
RECYCLING FUND UNDER THE USED OIL RECYCLING
ENHANCEMENT ACT FOR A REGIONAL PUBLIC
EDUCATION PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted the
California Oil Recycling Enhancement Act that provides funds to cities and counties
for establishing and maintaining local used oil collection programs that encourage
recycling or appropriate disposal of used oil; and,
WHEREAS, the California Integrated Waste Management Board Board)
has been delegated the responsibility for the administration of the program within
the State, setting up necessary procedures governing application by cities and
counties under the program; and,
WHEREAS, said procedures established by the California Integrated
Waste Management Board require the applicant to certify by Resolution the approval
of application before submission of said application to the State; and,
WHEREAS, the applicant will enter into an agreement with the State of
California for development of the project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of La Quinta as follows:
1. That the City Council approves the filing of an application for the California
Used Oil Recycling Block Grant Program under the California Oil Recycling
Enhancement Act for State Grant assistance for the project specified above;
and,
2. Certifies that said applicant has or will have, sufficient funds to operate and
maintain the project; and,

3. Appoints the City Manager as agent of the City of La *uinta to conduct all
negotiations, execute and submit all documents including, but not limited to
applications, agreements, amendments, payment requests and so on, which
may be necessary for the completion of the aforementioned project.
4. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City
Council held on this 2nd day of November, 1993, by the following vote, to wit.
AYES: Council Members Bangerter, Perkins, Sniff, Mayor Pena
NOES: None
ABSENT: Council Member McCartney
ABSTAIN: None
