A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LA QUINTA ESTABLISHING SERVICE FEES FOR
EXCESSIVE FALSE ACTIVATIONS OF FIRE ALARMS
A Resolution ofthe City of La Quinta establishing Service Fees for Excessive False
Activation of Fire Alarms.
WHEREAS, the number of false activations of fire alarms has dramatically increased in a
ten month period between January 1, 1994, to October 14, 1994; and
WHEREAS, with the increase in commercial development, the false activation will
increase; and
WHEREAS, the time spent by the Fire Department responding to false activations
prevents the Fire Department from responding to actual emergencies; and
WHEREAS, the taxpayers of La Quinta expect and deserve adequate Fire and Emergency
Medical Services;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, by the City Council of the City of La Quinta in
regular session assembled on December 6, 1994, that the following Service Fees are
hereby adopted.
1. False fire alarms in any ninety day period.
a. The first and second false fire alarm in any ninety day period shall
not be deemed excessive and no service fee will be assessed.
b. False fire alarms exceeding two 2) in any ninety-day
period shall result in a service fee of $50.00 for each such false
alarm.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED this 6th day of December, 1994, by the
following vote:
AYES: Council Members Bangerter, Perkins, Sniff,
Mayor Pena

ABSTAIN: None
