A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA QUINTA
APPROVING A TERM EXTENSION OF ITS REFUSE COLLECTION AND
DISPOSAL FRANCHISE AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, in July of 1991 the City of La Quinta the City") entered into a
Refuse Collection and Disposal Franchise Agreement the Agreement") with Waste
Management of the Desert, Inc. Franchisee") for a five-year term which will end June
30, 1996;
WHEREAS, pursuant to Article I of the Agreement, the City and Franchisee are
currently in the process of negotiating in good faith to extend the Agreement for an
additional five 5) year term;
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the residents of the City to extend the
existing Agreement thirty 30) days in order for the parties to have sufficient time to
complete their negotiations relating to the recycling and municipal solid waste
collection Agreements;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of La Quinta does resolve as
follows:
Section 1. The City Council hereby approves a thirty 30) day extension of the
Agreement to expire on July 30, 1 996.
Section 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of June, 1996 by the
following vote:
