NOTICE,
JOINT STUDY SESSION BETWEEN
CITIES OF LA QUINTA AND INDIO
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a joint study session has been
scheduled between the City Councils of the Cities of Indio and La
Quinta. Said meeting will be held at 7:00 P.M. on the 29th day of
March, 1988 in the Indio City Council Chambers, 100 Civic Center
Mall, Indio, California.
The purpose of said joint study session is to discuss matters of
mutual concern; particularly the following:
1. Discussion regarding proposed annexation to the City of Indio
of property located at the northwest corner of Jefferson Street
and Country Club Drive.
2. Discussion of possible downgrade of Jefferson Street as a major
north-south arterial and possible upgrade of Madison Street as
a major north-south arterial.
3. Discussion of consistent street widths on common boundaries.
4. Discussion of consistent land use on common boundaries.
5. Discussion of joint commercial development of Highway ill
corridor

Since Fall 1985 an ad hoc committee formed at the direction of Supervisor Larson
and John Burrow when the Mayor has been meeting to discuss traffic issues of joint
concern to the
County of Riverside and
Cities of Indio
Coachella; and
La Quinta
The committee felt that work should continue. The committee has identified
projects which require mutual cooperation and joint funding See Exhibit B:
Meeting Notes of 5/20/86)
Committee members recommend that the governing board of each agency adopt the
attached draft Memorandum of Understanding" formally establishing the committee
and its charge and authorizing staff to continue participating.

By copy of this letter we respectfully request annexation of the
attached parcel B of our property. located at the north-west
corner of Jefferson and Country Club Drives.
This request is being made due to the fact that this property is
contiguous to parcel A see attached map) which was recently
annexed to the City of Indic.
We are aware of the seriousness of the traffic flow problem which
has be**me so prevalent at the intersection of Jefferson and
Country Club Drives. It would appear that the proble* would most
easily be resolved if we were allowed *o deal with one political

It is not intended to prejudice or take sides on
any sphere of influence or annexation issues
between Indio and Coachella.
With respect to La Quinta, the boundary lines
described in the agreement are entirely compatible
with those which we have discussed earlier this
year. The City of La Quinta does not intend to
take a position on issues at controversy between
Indio and Coachella.
We look forward to continuing to work cooperatively
