A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA, TRAN?(ITTING
A MA? AND REQUESTING THE LOCAL AGENCY FORMATION
CO)041SSION TO ESTABLI? A SPHERE OF INFLUENCE
OF THE CITY OF LA QUINTA.
WEREAS, the City of La Quinta presently has no Sphere of Influence beyond
its existing city limits; and
WHE?S, the City or La Quinta desires a Sphere of Influence that would be
a logical extension or the City; and
WHEREAS, the City or La Quinta should be entitled to a Sphere or Influence
as all other cities in the area have been granted them and as provided by state
law; and
REAS, the predominant easterly boundary of the City of La Quinta is
Jefferson Street; and
HK?S, the City of La Quinta needs additional potential commercial area
to safeguard its fiscal base; and
WHERXAS, the City of La Quinta presently has only a 9/10 of a mile of
frontage along Highway 111; and
additional area which is not in agricultural use is desirable for
quality residential development; and
IHER?S, the City of La Quinta seeks to be a well-balanced commirnity with
a healthy commercial area, well-planned residential areas and viable agricultural
areas; and
S, northerly growth je a logical e?ansion of the City o? La Quinta3
and
the area north of the City of La Quinta is directly accessible
for emergency Bervices, even in times of flood, via the Washington Street
Bridge; and
iHEREAS, the City of La Quinta is capable of providing all municipal
services in the proposed Sphere of Influence; and
ER?S, the Coachella Valley Water District will provide water and
sanitary sewer service in the proposed Sphere of Influence; and
KEREAS, an additional north/south street should be planned for and by the
City of La Quinta between efferson Street and Washington Street; and
WHEREAS, development in the proposed Sphere of Influence should be compatible
with development in the City of La Quinta;

NOW, ThERE?)?, BE IT RE?LVED the City Council of the City of La Quinta,
California, as follows:
1. That a request for the establishment of a Sphere of Influence is hereby
submitted to the WCAL AGENCY PO?TION COMMISSION, as shown on the
attached diibit
2. That the land area represented in the Sphere of Influence is primarily
uninhabited and would be developed with residential and commercial uses.

Beginning at the Southeast corner of Section 29, Township
5 South, Range 7 East, San Bernardino Base and Meridian, also
being a point on the existing City Limits of La Quinta;

and existing City Limits of La Quinta to the Southwest comer of
said Section 29;
2) Thence North along the Westerly line of said
