ORD 105 ORDINANCE NO. 105
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE CITY'S
ZONING ORDINANCE BY ADDING CERTAIN REGULATIONS
THEREIN RELATING TO MINIMUM SIZES OF COMPACT
CAR STALLS AND COMPACT CAR PARKING LAYOUT.
The City Council of the City of La Quinta, california, does
ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. Riverside County Ordinance No. 348 (which was
adopted by reference by this City Council by Ordinance No. 5,
operative August 29, 1982) is hereby amended by adding a new
Subsection (8) to Section 18.12(b) thereof, establishing standards
for compact car parking, as follows:
(8) Compact Car Spaces. All compact parking areas shall be
designed and reviewed as follows:
a. For parking areas which contain 15 or more required
parking spaces, up to 20 percent of the total space
count may be designed for compact cars.
b. Compact car stall dimensions shall be as follows:
\ 8-1/2 feet in width and 18 feet in length for
60-degree angle; and 8-1/2 feet in width and 16 feet
in length for 90-degree angle.
c. Compact car parking spaces should be placed
conveniently throughout the parking area.
d. Each compact car parking space must be clearly
~marked as being restricted for "compact cars only".
e. All other parking lot development standards apply.
f. Compact parking areas shall be reviewed and
approved pursuant to the provisions of Section 18.30
of this ordinance.
SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall be in full
force and effect 30 days after passage.
SECTION 3. POSTING. The City Clerk shall, within 15 days after
passage of this ordinance, cause it to be posted in at least the
three (3) public places designated by resolution of the City Council;
shall certify to the adoption and posting of this ordinance; and
shall cause this ordinance and its certification, together with proof
of posting, to be entered in the Book of Ordinances of this City.
The foregoing ordinance was approved and adopted at a meeting of
the City Council held on this 17th day of March ,
1987.
